Daizha Hunter

My name is Daizha Hunter, and I am currently pursuing my Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology at Governors State University. Born and raised in the South Suburbs of Chicago, I aspire to serve and support my community through fulfilling their mental health needs. I am highly passionate about providing quality mental health care, especially to individuals of marginalized and underrepresented populations. Furthermore, I seek to end the negative stigma surrounding mental health care and change the narrative for the better.

Regarding my approach when working with clients, I would describe my therapy style as integrative. Every individual has different needs and I believe therapy should not be provided from a one-size-fits-all approach. I intend to meet my clients where they are to help propel them to where they desire to be in life. My areas of interest include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, and Mindfulness.

From experience, I realize how challenging it can be to find a therapist who truly understands and sees you as an individual. My goal is to create a safe, open space free of judgment where clients can feel comfortable to be their authentic selves. In turn, I also aim to be as transparent and welcoming as possible to help clients become the best version of themselves. Though the road toward change is not always easy, I hope to provide much support and genuine care along the way.
