Debbi Thomas

Hi, I’m Debbi Thomas. I’m originally from Philadelphia, but I’ve been proud to call Chicago home for almost 20 years. For the past five years, I’ve worked as a mindfulness coach, helping people heal emotionally, manage stress, and grow into the best version of themselves. My own life journey has taught me how to overcome challenges, and now I use that experience to support others in doing the same, with grace, resilience, and compassion.

Before becoming a therapist, I spent seven years in recruiting, where I helped people find their strengths, navigate career changes, and build confidence at work. That background fuels my passion for career counseling and helping clients find purpose, not just in their careers, but in their lives as a whole.

Now, I’m earning my Master’s in Counseling at Northwestern University and working toward licensure as a therapist. I take a whole-person approach to healing, meaning I consider your mind, body, and spirit in the work we do together. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, feeling stuck, going through a major life change, or just trying to understand yourself better, I’m here to support you.

I have special interests in mindfulness, trauma, addiction recovery, neuroscience, somatic therapy (how stress shows up in the body), and Christian-based counseling. I draw from a variety of therapy styles to meet you where you are and find what works best for you.

At the heart of it all, I believe in helping people slow down, connect to themselves, and find strength through self-awareness. If you’re looking for someone to walk with you through life’s messier moments while creating space for healing, clarity, and growth, I’d be honored to support you, one mindful breath at a time.
