Nijaya Jones
Therapist Intern
Therapy is a space where you can slow down, take a breath, and begin to make sense of everything life has been throwing your way. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, struggling with relationships, going through a major life change, or simply trying to figure out who you are and what you need, you don't have to navigate it all alone.
Hey! My name is Nijaya, and I'm originally from the DC/MD area but now call Chicago home. I'm passionate about supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds, especially people of color and those who may not always feel seen, heard, or understood. I enjoy working with people who are experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, identity concerns, or major life transitions. I also recognize that experiences like racism, discrimination, and feeling excluded or overlooked can take a toll on your mental and emotional well-being.
My approach to therapy is simple: we work together, and we move at your pace. I believe your story matters, and I want to understand the experiences that have shaped who you are today. This might include exploring your childhood, family relationships, past experiences, or the expectations you feel pressured to live up to. Sometimes, we don't realize how much our past influences the way we think, feel, and respond to situations today.
In our sessions, you can expect a warm, supportive, and judgment-free environment where you can show up exactly as you are. You don't have to have everything figured out or even know where to start. We'll work together to better understand what's been weighing on you, identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and develop realistic ways to manage life's challenges.
My goal is to help you feel more confident in who you are, better equipped to handle difficult emotions, and empowered to make changes that feel right for you. Therapy isn't about becoming a completely different person. It's about understanding yourself, recognizing your strengths, and creating a life that feels more peaceful, fulfilling, and true to who you are.
